by Jules Verne
Rating: **

I will confess I read this because my daughter is acting in a play of the story and I did not particularly fancy it which may have affected my reading and rating. I thought the beginning was really good, the writing was deceptively simple yet clever and it drew me in. However, after about the first quarter of the book, I found it frankly rather boring. It was not as gripping as it promised and the (for me) balance between comedy and drama, I found annoying. The ending I thought was poor and not what I expected and the secondary drama of the bank robber was also disposed of very lightly at the end and again, disappointing
